Handwriting
In our digital age many of us do not get to practise handwriting very often. This is still an important skill which helps us to communicate clearly and effectively. You will not always have a computer, tablet or other electronic device to use when you need to communicate in writing.
It is important that you practise your handwriting so that your writing style can be understood by others (is legible), is fluent and enables you to write for extended periods of time. You will also need to practise your handwriting so that you can write extended responses for assessment pieces in school.
- List some examples of when you (or others) would need to use handwriting, rather than using an electronic device to communicate ideas or information.
- What could be some of the consequences of poor handwriting skills in real life situations?
- Discuss your responses with other members of your group or class and your teacher.
Did you know that developing fluent, legible handwriting improves your visual perception and motor skills? It also helps your brain process new information and helps you to concentrate on the task at hand.
The best way to develop your handwriting skills is to practise, practise, practise ...
To do this you should:
- complete all your journal entries for this section in your own handwriting
- spend time at the beginning of each lesson writing on a topic from the choices which you will find in the list at the following link.
