The audience

Audience refers to the people who will view the image and who the creator of the image is aiming at. In other words, many still images are constructed to appeal to particular types or groups of people.

What features of an audience do you think you would need to consider when constructing an image?

When targeting an audience, creators of images will need to consider various aspects such as:

  • age group
  • gender (male or female)
  • location - city, suburbs, country/rural, remote areas
  • income
  • education level
  • job or occupation
  • interests
  • nationality (possibly but not always)
  • family background
